Pole-Con 2012
I just got back from "Pole-Con International" the International Pole
Convention and the experience was beyond amazing. I am inspired and
humbled by the world-class pole artists as well as students and teachers
who came from all over the world to empower their lives through pole
fitness. Their level of commitment reminded me that their artistry,
strength and beautiful physiques don't just happen on their own. They
manifest because of their heart felt drive to achieve their highest
potential on all levels of body, mind and spirit.
I was fortunate enough to work with some
incredible people. I performed with the incendiary "Grand Dames" of the
pole who are all 40 and over. They ignited the crowd from their very
first steps and are a prime example that age doesn't have to limit us,
but like fine wine, we can develop character and blossom with age. I
will be posting a video of these ladies soon...
I am sharing a few tips from numerous artists including Oona Kivela,
Felix Cane, Jenyne Butterfly, Natasha Wang, and others on how to
develop a stronger body and unfold your artistry.
1. The key to a great routine and workout is a thorough warm-up where you are sweating.
2. Less is often more. Practice movements in slow motion and breathe
into them to create flow. Sometimes a subtle movement communicates more
than a flashy trick when well placed.
3. Listen to your music over and over again and it will continue to speak to you and move you in fresh new ways.
4. Tell a story. It is the archetypes that touch ones soul deeply that brings art to life.
5.
Fuel your body with healthy food and water. Carbohydrates before a
workout trigger the insulin response that your body needs for energy.
Eating protein after you train helps repair cells and create new ones.
Success does not happen by accident, but by our daily habits. Each
day we create stepping stones that when focused on our goals pave the
path to our dreams.
Our attitude determines our altitude!
